News Release

Andrea Goforth ’07 from Winthrop Harbor, Illinois is coming into her own with the release of a CD titled “Songs for Someone.”

“I began singing and playing piano at a very young age, and by the time I was in junior high, I was writing my own songs. I wrote and performed my solo material throughout high school, but when I got to Trinity, it took a back seat to my academic priorities.”

Over the summer, something changed. Goforth started composing again, and at a faster rate than ever before.

“I remember how much I missed it, and I realized that it was my true passion. I decided I wanted to give solo performance a shot, and the first step was to make a full-length CD.”

On December 6, Goforth held a CD release party in the Recital Hall of Ozinga Chapel. She performed several of her favorite songs. The CD fulfills the requirements of Goforth’s Business Communication senior project. But the recording accomplishes more than that.

Andrea Goforth '07 with business parter William Wilberg '06“It is a reflection of my personal experiences. All of the music on the CD is about people. Real people and real situations. Hopefully, listeners can relate to the people, situations, and emotions presented in each song.”

Goforth has one semester to complete before graduation. A diploma is top priority right now but after that the sky is the limit.

“I am planning on playing more shows and sending the CD to producers, record companies, and radio stations all over the country,” Goforth said. “Lord willing, the CD will ultimately provide a doorway to a possible career as a singer-songwriter.”
