Gospel Choir Lifts Voices and Spirits
Voices and spirits were lifted at the fall 2007 Gospel Choir Concert held on Saturday, November 17, in the Ozinga Chapel Auditorium. The concert featured performances by Trinity’s own Gospel Choir, the Sisters of Unity praise dance team, and a miming performance from Timotheus Treadwell ’08 of Calumet City, Illinois.
Treadwell also served as accompanist for the choir and composed two original pieces of music for the concert titled: “You Never Left Me Behind”and “You Are Good.” Other songs performed by the choir included Kirk Franklin’s “Don’t Cry,” the traditional “Come Here Jesus,” and “You are Good” by Israel Houghton. Whether through song, dance, or mime, all three acts offered an inspiring message of joyfulness and praise.
Senior Marlin Exton of Chicago Heights, Illinois, a tenor in the choir, was particularly blessed by the performance.
“This was one of the best concerts I have ever been a part of at Trinity,” said Marlin. “It literally changed my life. It created in me a desire to get to know God far more intimately.”
The busy choir was back on the Ozinga Chapel stage December 1 for the annual Christmastide concert, which features selections from each of the Trinity music department’s groups. To keep track of upcoming musical events on campus, be sure to check the cultural events calendar.
