FAITH ENGAGED: THE CHRISTIAN CITIZEN

Although most people would not use Disneyland as a metaphor for the United States, Dr. Marvin Olasky made a correlation between the former as a theme park focused on fun, while the latter is a theme park devoted to liberty.

Dr. Olasky, editor of WORLD magazine, made his remarks at Trinity's inaugural Faith Engaged conference November 8-9 in the Ozinga Chapel. Nearly 90 people attended the conference to hear him and Dr. James Skillen, president of the Center for Public Justice, speak about Christian citizenship in politics, law, education, the media, and the arts.

Both presenters discussed the role of government in shaping the moral fabric of American culture. The speakers reiterated the need for government to focus on doing what it was designed to do, instead of eliminating or adding to what it already does. Following their presentations, guests had the opportunity to pose questions during a 90-minute question-and-answer period. The speakers' remarks can be heard at cultureisnotoptional.com.

Next year's conference, scheduled for November 6-8, will feature Dr. Quentin Schultze, Dr. Gene Veith, and Ken Myers.
