Read With Me—Students Extend an Invitation to Children

Students at Trinity are continually finding ways to touch the lives of others. Read With Me, a ministry that is part of the Service Committee, goes to Roseland Christian Ministries each Wednesday to touch the lives of the children staying there.

Read With Me is coordinated by Rachel VandeKamp ’11 of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

“I love how from the first second we are there, the kids come running to us with huge smiles on their faces, arms held high in the air, waiting for us to pick them up,” said VandeKamp. “We are able to love them for who they are and show Christ to them through our actions.”

Each week a group of Trinity students spends time with the children at Roseland reading books, playing games, doing crafts, and making an impact on their lives. Currently the program is attracting around 25 Trinity students each week, but more students are encouraged to participate.

“I hope that we continue to have students who are willing to join us and willing to extend Christ's loving hand to these children,” said VandeKamp.
