Trolls Post Undefeated Soccer Season
The women’s soccer team completed their regular season schedule with an 18-0 perfect record, a first-ever undefeated season for the College. The Trolls also accomplished a school-first milestone in claiming an out-right conference title with an unblemished 9-0 record.
The team’s excellent play has received national attention as they rank No. 8 in the NAIA National Coaches Top 25 Poll. The Trolls, who have been in the rankings all season, broke into the nation’s top 10 in the poll released on October 21 and moved to the No. 8 spot a week later. They are the only team in the top 25 rankings with a perfect record.
The 18 wins of the season set the school record for most wins in a regular season. With post-season games still ahead, the team could surpass the overall season mark of 21 wins, set in 2005. For the year, the Trolls have been explosive offensively, scoring 105 goals and ranking first in the nation in goal average. Defensively they have recorded 14 shut-outs in their 18 games and given up only five goals.
The Trolls will look to keep their undefeated season intact as they enter post-season play. In the first round of the conference tournament, the No. 1 seeded Trolls will host No. 8 University of St. Francis. That quarter-final game will be played on November 1 at Moraine Valley Community College at 1 p.m. The conference tournament will continue with the semi-finals on November 5 and the championship game on November 8.
