Alumnus Wins Advertising Award
Alumnus Chris Kloet ’92, along with his creative team members, won a Bronze Lion at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival in Cannes, France, this past June. The team had entered their Kraft Stove Top Stuffing advertising campaign in the Best Use of Outdoor category in the media competition.
Kloet is an art director at Draftfcb, one of the world's largest communications agency networks. He and his team won with their innovative use of the cold Chicago weather. They installed heaters in 10 bus shelters in high-traffic commuter and shopping areas in downtown Chicago, creating a warm oasis for pedestrians while surrounding them with Stove Top advertising and providing free samples of the classic comfort food. The campaign gained national media attention as the first ever ad-sponsored heated bus shelter campaign, and the warmth spread from Chicago all across the nation.
The Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival is held annually, an international meeting place for communications professionals. In addition to the highly competitive advertising contest, the festival draws communication experts from around the world, providing attendees with conference talks and workshops. Over 22,000 advertising pieces are entered in the contest annually, raising the level of competition and the prestige of the awards.
Kloet majored in art and business while at Trinity.
