TRINITY LAUNCHES NEW ACADEMIC YEAR AT 44th CONVOCATION

Trinity Christian College celebrated its 44th year of Christian higher education at its annual convocation service on Friday, Aug. 30, in the Ozinga Chapel.

Following the faculty processional, the audience joined in a hymn of praise before Provost Liz Rudenga delivered the invocation. Interim President Tony Diekema presented the convocation address, "Unless A College.," which emphasized Trinity's role in enriching the soil of God's kingdom through Christian higher education.

After Ryan Wynia, student association president, led the convocation litany, four Founders' Scholarship recipients, one from each class, offered prayers for the Trinity community: senior Jason Martin (Narvon, Pa.); junior Tracy Hochwert (Morton Grove, Ill.); sophomore Matt Koster (South Holland, Ill.); and freshman Erin Marshalek (Tinley Park, Ill.). As the ceremony concluded, faculty and staff lined the aisles of the chapel to extend a blessing upon the students; students blessed them in return. Rev Tim Hoekstra, the College chaplain, gave the benediction.
