Students Take Part in Involvement Fair 2008

On Friday, August 29, students, professors, and outside vendors kicked off the beautiful holiday weekend at the College’s annual Involvement Fair. The fair showcases opportunities new and returning students can enjoy as members of the Trinity community. Continuing the tradition of holding the fair on the lawn, both established and brand new clubs displayed their opportunities, including the new “Man Council Club” and the “Climbing and Caving Club.”

Drew Van’t Land ’10 of Hull, Iowa, vice president of Student Association, was in charge of the fair this year.

“The fair offers so much in the way of opportunities both on and off campus,” said Van’t Land. “We had academic clubs, extracurricular clubs, churches, banks, and other organizations present, so the sky is really the limit concerning the level of involvement possible for Trinity freshmen and returning students.”

Trinity students enjoyed a BBQ dinner provided by Creative Dining, snow cones, and cotton candy as they strolled around looking at the various organizations.

Whitney Dickison ’10 of Ottawa, Illinois, the new editor and chief for the college newspaper the Courier, had a booth at the fair and recruited several students.

“The Involvement Fair is the one event that brings all the organizations together,” she said. “It helps students see all their options and make more informed decisions on what they want to get involved in.”
