GOLFERS RUFFLE A FEW FEATHERS

Calm winds, blue skies, and 80-degree temperatures invited plenty of scoring opportunities for the 29 groups who teed off for the Trinity Athletics Club golf outing at the Ruffled Feathers Golf Course in Lemont, Illinois, August 19. The undulating fairways and greens prompted the players to hit their best shots in hopes of keeping low scores.

The foursome of Dan Mannes '92, Chuck Wierda '92, Jim Allen '91, and Pete Molenhouse '92 recorded a 12-under-par 60 to win the best-ball scramble format. A total of 113 golfers helped raise nearly $67,000 for scholarships that will go to Trinity athletes.

"This was another fantastic TAC outing," said Rick Van Dyken, Trinity's director of development. "The weather was outstanding, and the scores suggest that most of the teams played some pretty good rounds. Most importantly, the participants' support helps us offer more opportunities to our student-athletes."

Members of the College's sports teams welcomed the golfers to the tee boxes and greens of selected holes, and President Steven Timmermans greeted each group on the 10th hole and gave them divot tools and ball markers.

"This is a great way to meet more people who believe in Trinity and our mission," Timmermans said. "Their partnership with us is vital, and I want them to know how much I appreciate all that they add to what we do."
