ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED TO THREE RECIPIENTS
Three incoming freshmen are recipients of the Alumni Excellence Scholarship.
This year’s recipients are Dawn Bulthuis of Worth, Illinois, (parents Ken ex ’80 and Darlene Bulthuis); Sara Ooms of Lansing, Illinois, (parents Kevin ’80 and Marilou Ooms); and Melissa J. Voss of Orland Park, Illinois, (parents Tom and Cheryl ’87 nee Bulthuis Voss).
Dawn: Dawn is a nursing major whose sister Amy ’09 also attends Trinity.
“I chose Trinity because of the reputation of the outstanding nursing program and the opportunities in the community with local hospitals.”
Dawn said she was excited to receive the scholarship and that it would help her to focus on her education rather than on funding her education.
Sara: Sara is considering a major in nursing or math education.
Some of her family members have attended Trinity and her aunt, Joan Ooms, works in the financial aid office.
“I’m very familiar with Trinity and know that the College has a good spiritual foundation.”
Melissa: Melissa is an Elementary Education major, and, like Dawn, will be seeing her sister Michelle ’10 around campus.
One of the reasons Melissa chose Trinity was its size compared to larger, more impersonal campuses.
“When I visited Trinity, everyone was warm and inviting. I already felt accepted.”
Up to three renewable, four-year scholarships are awarded to children of Trinity alumni each year.
