CRUISE IN PALOS HEIGHTS PARADE
The City of Palos Heights
celebrated America's 227th birthday with a parade July 4, and Trinity participated
in the festivities by featuring its Matrices in the procession.
Withstanding the midsummer's
sultry heat, Jonathan Lenarz, assistant athletics director and men's soccer
coach, and his wife, Jenny, smiled and waved to onlookers as they each
coasted in a blue Matrix emblazoned with the College's logo. Both cars
were decorated with stars and stripes.
"We had a great time," Jonathan
Lenarz said. "It was really hot outside, so it seemed like the parade moved
a little quicker than normal, but it was good for the College to be a part
of this community event."
Temperatures pushed well
into the 90s, but that did not deter hundreds of residents from lining
the curbs of the parade route that covered slightly more than one mile.
After starting at the Palos Heights fire station at 123rd and Harlem, the
procession headed west four blocks to 76th Ave., then turned north before
ending its trip at Route 83.
