Fifty-one students graduated from the adult studies program in the afternoon ceremony held on May 19. Trina Vallone ’99, assistant professor of education, delivered the commencement address titled, “Your Life, Your Story.” Vallone highlighted the personal journeys of graduates who often have to balance the demands of family and jobs while striving to reach their academic goals.

President Steven Timmermans greeted the audience, and John Hoekstra, director of Adult Studies Education, offered the invocation. Lisa Badal ’07 of Hinkley, Illinois, led the Song of Response, and Rachel Martin ’07 of Park Forest, Illinois, led the litany. Alumni greetings were extended by Kelly Netjes ’02, director of alumni relations.

Upon conferring the degrees to the adult studies graduates, Timmermans said, “That which is significant will stay with you after you leave here. Most important is the middle name of this institution—Christian.

“As you find your place in the beautiful world God has entrusted to us, may Trinity Christian College stay with you.”
