Trinity Christian College sponsored the 10th annual Young Authors Festival on May 6-7, 2002. Our featured guest was Bill Buczinsky from A Child's Voice, a company dedicated to introducing young people to poetry. We also invited local artist Jim Martin to offer his drawing talent and expertise.

An enthusiastic crowd of 325 elementary students, teachers, and volunteers from 14 Christian schools throughout the Chicago area and Indiana came to the festival.  The students were selected to attend after submitting samples of their writings.

Buczinsky performed interactive poetry presentations, and the students wrote poems by themselves.  Later, Martin drew caricatures and cartoons for the children while giving them a drawing lesson.

Trinity's education department sponsors the Young Authors Festival every year. A committee of volunteers from seven local Christian schools helps the festival run smoothly.  Sue Stein, librarian at Timothy Christian School, and Joy Meyer, Trinity's education department chair, head the volunteer committee.
