Encouragement leads to accomplishment and the ability to reach beyond potential.
A celebration dinner at the Ozinga Chapel, Friday, April 21, commemorated special education students who have worked especially hard this year.

"The dinner is held to celebrate how far students have come," said Patti Powell, director for the center for special education at Trinity Christian College.

Four internationally acclaimed special Olympians addressed the dinner guests, made up of Elim Christian School students, their teachers, and parents. The speakers described how the Special Olympics improved their confidence and social skills.

"Our goal was to get people to connect and to provide refreshment and encouragement for everyone," said Sheila Romain, who taught at Elim for 18 years. As an adjunct professor at the College, she provides students with an experienced perspective that they need to enter the world of special education.
