Rutter's Requiem Featured in Two Performances PALOS HEIGHTS, IL-John Rutter's Requiem is the featured work performed by the Concert Choir and Honors Ensemble of Trinity Christian College. The first of two concerts will be presented on Sunday, April 30, followed by a second on Sunday, May 7. The first concert, on April 30 at 7:45 p.m., will be at Peace Christian Reformed Church, 833 E. 168th St., South Holland, Ill. Accompanying the main work of the Requiem will be an organ, synthesizer, and violin, in addition to soprano soloist Rebecca Vander Weit (Orland Park, Ill.), a senior vocal music education major. The choir will perform anthems by Vittoria, Gabrieli, and Billings; hymn arrangments of Robert Shaw and Alice Parker; and spirituals arranged by Andre Thomas and Heith Hampton. The Honors Ensemble will sing a diverse group of anthems including works of composers Hans Leo Hassler and John Coates. There is no admission charge for this event. On May 7 at 4:00 p.m. the
Trinity Christian College Concert Choir and Honors Ensemble will present
their spring concert at Peace Memorial United Church of Christ, 10300 W.
131st St., Palos Park, Ill. A professional orchestra, in addition
to soprano soloist Rebecca Vander Weit, will accompany the performance
of the Requiem. A free will offering will be received.
