News Release

Since the initial shock of Hurricane Katrina, most people have become far removed from the devastation that struck New Orleans.

Yet many continue to participate in on-going relief efforts. Kara Bruxvoort ’03, Trinity’s conference and events coordinator, remembered when 39 Trinity students spent their spring break last year working in some of the hardest hit areas. Still inspired by their service, she traveled with her church to southern Louisiana this March.

Bruxvoort and others from Calvary Reformed Church in Orland Park, Illinois, labored each day at various work sites, including churches and homes that had remained untouched by repair efforts since the hurricane.

She said she is grateful that Trinity recognizes the importance of service and gives its employees paid time away each year to serve.

“We can take what we learned and apply it to our everyday lives and our positions at Trinity.”
