Trinity Students Selected For Honor Choirs

Palos Heights, IL: Trinity Christian College students competed with vocalists from 26 colleges for coveted spots in mens' and jazz honor choirs. Three Trinity Christian College students were selected from a four-state region that included Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio, to sing in honor choirs at the American Choral Directors Association regional conference, held in Chicago on March 6-9. Baritones Patrick Baker, Holland, Michigan, and Ryan Wynia, Sioux Center, Iowa earned spots in the men's honor choir and tenor Christopher Cayari, Chicago Ridge, Illinois, was selected to the jazz honor choir.

The three vocalists perform with the Trinity Christian College Concert Choir under the direction of Dr. Helen Hoekema-Van Wyck. Van Wyck said she is thankful for the high quality and quantity of male singers at Trinity.

"Because many students in the honor choirs come from much larger schools, it demonstrates that our students' talent is considerable," said Van Wyck.  "Performing with a group of selectively chosen and highly motivated singers will be an experience our students will never forget."

The jazz honor choir opened the ACDA central division convention on Thursday, March 7. The men's honor choir performed at the convention closing on Saturday, March 9, along with the girls', boys', and gospel honor choirs.
