TRINITY ALUMNUS MAKES FINALS OF CHRISTIAN VOCAL COMPETITION

Ryan Wynia ’04 has been named one of Inspiration Sensation’s 12 finalists. The Emmy-Award winning television show is produced by the Total Living Network of Aurora, Illinois, and aired nationwide.

“This is an incredible opportunity--like nothing I’ve experienced before,” Wynia said. “Making the top 12 is the culmination of the direction, inspiration, and coaching of my instructors over the years and the insight of those who have guided the promotional efforts.”

After making it through the first round of auditions, Wynia joined 44 other semi-finalists on Saturday, March 3, for a taping to air Saturday, April 7.  He performed an a cappella version of “Can’t Give Up Now,” by Mary Mary. The judges lauded his arrangement as “pitch perfect” and commended him for his powerful stage presence.

“I want to motivate people to aspire to the greatness for which God created them,” Wynia said.

A rigorous rehearsal schedule awaits Wynia in advance of seven weekly programs that will originate live, beginning April 14, each Saturday at 8 p.m. CST. The evening’s musical style will be a diverse mixture of inspirational rock, pop, adult contemporary, and gospel. The 2007 Inspiration Sensation winner will be named on the May 19 program finale. The winner, to be determined by online and telephone votes from viewers, will receive a recording contract.

Wynia attends Christ Community Church in Palos Heights, Illinois. He also volunteers his time at the Lincoln Park Community Shelter on Chicago’s north side.
