Flavor Life with Learning
This spring, the Senior Academy of Learning at Trinity (SALT) will provide four stimulating and enriching courses for those 55 and older. SALT creates an opportunity for individuals in the area to share knowledge, talents, and experience.
The courses being offered this spring include:
• The Psychology of Personal Growth and Development: Topics will include life stages and issues, coping with stress, personal values, and interpersonal relations. The method of instruction will be participative and personalized; students will “learn by doing.”
Tuesdays, April 1, 8 & 15 from 3:45 p.m. to 5 p.m., Heritage Science Center 104. Instructor: Dr. Mary Lynn Colosimo
• Digital Photos on Your Home Computer: The first session will include an overview on capturing photos, photo types, uploading photos, saving photos, and enhancement software. Week two will cover enhancing the quality of photos through lighting, colors, and cropping. The final week of the class will include information on printing photos, using photos in emails and documents, and how to create DVDs from still photos.
Thursdays, April 3, 10 & 17 from 3:45p.m. to 5p.m., Heritage Science Center 019. Instructor Ralph Veldboom
• Writing Your Life’s Story: Where do you start writing your life’s story when you have a lot of life to talk about? This course will look at some easy writing techniques to make starting such a project painless and satisfying. The course will be taught using a workshop approach that should give everyone the chance to tell some wonderful stories.
Tuesdays, April 22, 29 & May 6 from 3:45 p.m. to 5 p.m., Heritage Science Center 104. Instructor: Professor Bill Boerman-Cornell
• Conflict in the Middle East-Past, Present, Future: One of the most enduring conflicts in our lifetime has been the conflicts in the Middle East, especially the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. How did things reach their current state? What is happening right now in the Middle East? And what does the future hold? This course will try to answer some of these pressing questions and inform you of the issues.
Thursdays, April 24, May 1 & 8 from 3:45 p.m. to 5 p.m., Heritage Science Center 104. Instructor: Dr. George Pierson
The cost is $20 per course. If you have question or are interested in registering, please contact Ruth De Bruyn at 708.239.4827 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
