The Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) chose Dr. Dave Klanderman as a facilitator in its disciplinary faculty development workshop for math and computer science to be held this spring.

Klanderman will team with Cal Jongsma of Dordt College at the workshop to share some insight from their collaborative research. The two math instructors plan to publish a book that helps college professors teach aspiring middle school math teachers. They are developing a framework centering on the historical developments in math.

"The workshop itself is somewhat of a launching pad for this project," Klanderman said. "Cal and I will benefit from the feedback of other workshop participants. We will also have time to set key parameters for the book project and to start researching and writing one chapter as a sort of prototype."

The CCCU workshop will take place May 22-27 at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California. It is designed to equip faculty members for more effective teaching and nurture Christian perspectives on substantive issues in their fields of expertise.
