"Disabled" Author Recounts Cross-Country Journey

Trinity Christian College will be welcoming public speaker and author of The Short Bus Jonathan Mooney to campus on Monday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Grand Lobby of the Ozinga Chapel, 6601 W. College Drive, Palos Heights, Illinois.
As a young boy Mooney was diagnosed as “severely learning disabled,” teased by his classmates, and made to ride the “short bus”—a bus that only drove students with disabilities. He said he suddenly became aware that he wasn’t considered “normal” any longer.

Shocking skeptics, Mooney graduated from Brown University with honors. After his graduation, he took off on a journey across America to find other people like him. He ultimately determined that no person is “normal,” and we need to learn to embrace our differences. Mooney recounted this cross-country adventure in his book, The Short Bus.

Mooney will be sharing about his struggles and his adventures at this event sponsored by the Alexander De Jong Center for Special Education at Trinity. Admission is free.
