New Bookstore Café Officially Dedicated

More than 100 friends of the College gathered to celebrate the official dedication of the Bootsma Bookstore Café on Friday, February 8.

An hors d’ oeuvres reception was held in the bookstore café where many enjoyed a first-time visit to the new facility. On the entryway wall is a plaque recognizing those who donated time, funds, and gifts in kind to the purchase, renovation, and opening of the new campus building.

Guests then gathered in the Grand Lobby for the dedication dinner and program. Board chairperson William Weidenaar offered welcome and prayer, which was followed by music performed by Trinity’s Honors Ensemble.

Dr. Ken and Jan André Bootsma were honored for their gift toward the bookstore café and for Dr. Bootsma’s service to the College as president from 1984 to 1996.

“Dr. and Mrs. Bootsma were touched by all the people who attended this dedication,” said Larryl Humme, vice president for development. “God’s goodness and grace filled the Bootsma Bookstore Café that evening.”

“Everyone in attendance was amazed at the transformation of the old building into a beautiful and highly useable space for both our campus and our community,” said Humme. “We are so grateful to the Bootsma’s for their generosity and for their shared vision of what a student center like this can do and will do for Trinity Christian College.”
