News Release

The cold winds and freezing temperatures on Saturday, January 28, did little to deter the enthusiasm of Trinity students serving at Lake Katherine's 2006 Winterfest. Freshmen Aaron Carpenter, Ethan VerVelde, Brittney Hackbart, and Lindsay Ebels were among 20 area high school and college students who helped families enjoy the outdoors together, despite the cold.

"It was our pleasure to work with a fine group of young people from Trinity Christian College," said Marian Sinkus, program coordinator. "Our management, staff, and adult volunteers made comments about the helpfulness of all the Trinity students. They were focused, polite, and positive," she added.

The student volunteers managed the entire event and participated in activities throughout the day, such as candle-dipping, a wild animal show, and corn-shucking.

"We had a good time," said Carpenter. "I appreciated the opportunity to see kids' faces as they learned and took part in nature-related activities."
