Instruments of praise echoed through the Ozinga Chapel auditorium on February 2, when Trinity played host to the Holland Christian High School band and orchestra from Holland, Michigan. Seventy students took part in a workshop put on by Dr. Ken Austin, professor of music at Trinity. He organized the workshop with HCHS director Scott Vanden Berg.

“I worked primarily on improving musicianship,” Austin said. “But this serves the dual purpose of giving the students good exposure to Trinity and being close to downtown Chicago.”

The night before the workshop, the high school musicians went to a Chicago Symphony Orchestra concert and enjoyed pizza at Gino’s East restaurant.

“This trip has been great,” said Kyle Schaap, an HCHS junior. “We also learned a lot here at Trinity. I think we even play better now.”
