Trinity Celebrates 80th Birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Trinity family celebrated the 80th birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on January 19, the eve of the inauguration of the first African-American president of the United States.
“The Vision Unfolds” was the focus of this year’s celebration, beginning with video clips from King’s unforgettable “I Have a Dream” speech and ending with highlights from last November’s acceptance speech of President Barak Obama.
Yet the overarching message resonating throughout the diverse crowd of students, faculty, and staff united in their Christian faith was expressed in the words of the song “We Are One in the Spirit.” Led by Professor Mary Webster Moore, the song was sung as all present joined hands and voices.
Students Patrick Cobb ’10 of Chicago, Illinois, and Rachel Dlugopolski ’10 of Cabot, Pennsylvania, shared Scripture.
The event was sponsored by the Office of Ethnic Diversity and the Ethnic Diversity Committee.
