News Release

Bill Schepel has been named the women’s volleyball coach at Trinity Christian College. Schepel, who has built an impressive resume as a high school coach and teacher over the past 22 years, will also serve as an assistant professor in the physical education department.

“Bill Schepel is a perfect fit for us,” said Trinity athletics director Jeff Raymond. “He not only brings a proven record on the volleyball court, but will also be a huge benefit to our physical education program. We are extremely excited to have him join our staff.”

Schepel will arrive at Trinity after a six-year stint at Illiana Christian High School in Lansing, Ill., where he serves as head coach for both the girls and boys volleyball programs. His girls’ teams at Illiana were 172-53-2 in the six years, including four regional and two sectional titles, plus a state tournament appearance in 2003.

Prior to Illiana, Schepel spent 15 years at Timothy Christian High School in Elmhurst, Ill., building an overall mark of 289-173-10 and capturing four regional championships. His overall record in 21 years at the high school level is 461-226-12.

“I think our volleyball program has the potential to be very strong on a yearly basis and I truly believe Bill is the right coach to move us in that direction,” said Raymond.

Schepel graduated from Trinity in 1985 with a degree physical education. He went on to earn his master’s degree in sports administration from Valparaiso University.

“I'm excited to be returning to my alma mater,” said Schepel.  “I look forward to sharing what I have learned over the past 22 years of teaching and coaching in both the physical education department and the women's volleyball program at Trinity."
