"Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations." Psalm 100 NIV

IN MEMORY OF DR. GERDA BOS

The Trinity Christian College community is mourning the loss of founding professor, Dr. Gerda Bos, who passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at the age of 88. The English professor taught for 25 years, starting in 1959 and ending in 1984, when she retired. She also served as academic dean from 1981-82. She was respected by everyone on campus and is remembered for inspiring generations of students. She continued to be involved in Trinity's life even after retirement: making quilts for sale at Trinity fundraisers and endorsing the Dr. Gerda Bos English Scholarship Fund. Dr. Bos was recognized by Trinity alumni in February 2004 with the Honorary Alumni Award. She was the loving sister of Dina Pierik, Effie Steenwyk, Trudy Bos, Ray, Gary, and Jack Bos and the late Grace Voss as well as the dear aunt of many nieces and nephews. Visitation was held Tuesday, October 10 at the Colonial Chapel in Orland Park, Illinois with a service of thanksgiving and celebration held immediately afterward. Memorials can be made to Trinity Christian College in the name of the Dr. Gerda Bos English Scholarship Fund.

ALUMNI NEWS

ALUMNI BOARD TAKING NOMINATIONS FOR ANNUAL AWARDS

Do you know a Trinity alum who is really making a difference in the world? The alumni board wants your input for the 2006 Alumnus/a of the Year. Nominees should be making or have made significant contributions to their fields of endeavors (which may benefit other Trinity alumni); be recognized by their associates for outstanding achievements; and manifest a Christian commitment that reflects honor on Trinity Christian College.

Is there a Trinity faculty or staff member who has influenced your life? In addition to this award, the board also annually recognizes three current and former faculty and staff members who have made an impact on Trinity alumni with the Honorary Alumni Award. In the past, the alumni board has nominated the award recipients, but this year they are requesting nominations from the alumni association.

Nominations for both awards should be submitted before Friday, October 20. Forward the names and reasons why you believe your nominees meet the criteria to travis.bandstra@trnty.edu .
