DRIVERS WANTED FOR TAC GOLF CLASSIC

We still have a couple spots open for the 19th annual TAC Golf Classic on Monday, August 16. The event at Calumet Country Club in Homewood, IL, will begin with registration at 11 a.m., luncheon at 11:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The outing will conclude with hors d’oeuvres and an awards ceremony at the clubhouse. BREWERS/CUBS GAME SOLD OUT

It’s official—the third annual “Trinity Night” at Miller Park is sold out! On Wednesday, August 18, 100 alumni and family members will drive to Milwaukee where the Brewers will face the Chicago Cubs. SHAKIN’ IT UP WITH THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR

Travel downtown with alumni on Saturday, November 13 to see The Merry Wives of Windsor at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier. Theater-goers will leave from campus by coach and return after the play. On the way to Navy Pier, English professor Mark Jones will provide a play synopsis and context. ANDREW CORP SUPPORTS ART & COMMUNICATION CENTER

Andrew Corp. and its employees committed a gift of $250,000 to the construction of the Art and Communication Center at Trinity Christian College. This marks the second time in four years that the telecommunications equipment manufacturer, based in Orland Park, Ill., has funded a new building on Trinity’s campus. TRINITY VOLUNTEERS PAINT PICTURE OF SERVICE

A team of Trinity volunteers packed up paint brushes and rollers and headed for Chicago’s West Side Christian School Wednesday, July 14, to help paint its new building. President Steven Timmermans and his wife, Barb, were among the staff and faculty from the College who spent their day working on the classrooms, halls, and gymnasium. Trinity encourages its employees to volunteer up to 40 hours of service time each year to a ministry, charity, or non-profit organization. NAIA HONORS NEW ATHLETICS DIRECTOR

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) recognized Jeff Raymond, Trinity’s new athletics director, for his exemplary work as sports information director at Westmont College (California) by presenting him with the Ike Pearson Award. CALLING ALL THESPIANS TO THE STAGE

Do you miss the spotlight? Want to do that song and dance number one more time? Trinity is looking for you! Sky Masterson, Sarah Brown, Nathan Detroit, and Adelaide will sing and dance their way into your hearts in Trinity’s version of Guys and Dolls. Memorable songs from this classic musical include: “A Bushel and a Peck,” “Adelaide’s Lament,” “I’ve Never Been in Love Before,” “Luck be a Lady,” and “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat.” 

 

The cast will consist of 8-12 men and women; both alumni and students are encouraged to audition. All vocal parts are represented and both large and small roles are available. The musical will be performed the first weekend in October; auditions will be held in late August or early September and will consist of singing, acting, and movement. Come prepared to sing 16 bars of your favorite Broadway show tune (except from Guys and Dolls and Cats, please). Rehearsals will take place one evening a week and on Saturdays during September. SUSAN (VANDER WERFF) LAMONT ’75—A LOVE FOR NATURE AND CREATION

The endless wonder of nature enthralled Dr. Susan (Vander Werff) Lamont ’75 when she was a young girl growing up in Lansing, Illinois, and it continues to hold her heart captive today. “I’ve had an affinity for nature for as long as I can remember,” said the distinguished professor of animal science at Iowa State University. “The creativity and discovery of science appeal strongly to me because there is always so much for us to learn. DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

Trinity Christian College is seeking a full-time director of development to plan, direct, and coordinate all fundraising activities for alumni and donors, including individuals, corporations, foundations, and churches; supervise the development team of officers (alumni relations, planned giving, annual fund, and executive associate to the president for development) and support staff; personally cultivate and solicit a caseload of major donors; and manage the involvement of the vice president for advancement and admissions and the College president in the fundraising process.

 

DIRECTOR OF MARKETING, MEDIA, AND CONFERENCES

Trinity Christian College is seeking a full-time director of marketing, media, and conferences to plan, direct, and coordinate all marketing activities for the College, including the production of materials that represent the College to prospective students and constituents; lead media relations; oversee scheduling and implementation of internal and external conferences and events; and work with other departments to support ongoing marketing programs.
