"For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others." Romans 12:3-5 NIV

TRINITY SIGNS LEASE AGREEMENT WITH MWRD

Since 1984, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) has envisioned that its inland waterways would be transformed into open spaces for recreation and community benefits. That vision is about to be fulfilled for Palos Heights and surrounding suburbs with the signing of a 50-year lease between the MWRD of Greater Chicago and Trinity Christian College. The lease agreement encompasses 78 acres bounded by Route 83 (College Drive) and the Calumet-Sag Channel, and stretches more than a mile and a half between Ridgeland and Central avenues. The College plans to develop several athletics fields on the site. Read more on our Web site: http://tcc.trnty.edu/new/archive/062504/index.html.

CALLING ALL THESPIANS TO THE STAGE

Do you miss the spotlight? Want to do that song and dance number one more time? Trinity is looking for you! Sky Masterson, Sarah Brown, Nathan Detroit, and Adelaide will sing and dance their way into your hearts in Trinity's version of Guys and Dolls. Memorable songs from this classic musical include: "A Bushel and a Peck," "Adelaide's Lament," "I've Never Been in Love Before," "Luck be a Lady," and "Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat."

The cast will consist of 8-12 men and women; both alumni and students are encouraged to audition. All vocal parts are represented and both large and small roles are available. The musical will be performed the first weekend in October; auditions will be held in late August or early September and will consist of singing, acting, and movement. Come prepared to sing 16 bars of your favorite Broadway show tune (except from Guys and Dolls and Cats, please). Rehearsals will take place one evening a week and on Saturdays during September. Contact Dr. Teresa TerHaar, assistant professor of communication arts, at teresa.terhaar@trnty.edu for more information.

JOHN SITTEMA '71-ANSWERING THE CALL

Dr. John Sittema '71 knows firsthand that when God extends a call, the only recourse is to respond. "I sensed His call on my life toward the end of my high school years and the beginning of college. I tried to resist Him, but He was very persistent in His pursuit of me. He laid his hand heavily on my heart and soul, and He was very clear in His leading." Check our Web site at http://tcc.trnty.edu/alumni/profiles/sittema/ for the rest of the story.

JOHN BAKKER-PROFESSOR OF ART

As chair of Trinity's art department, John Bakker follows a simple equation: culture minus Christians equals chaos. "Art has always been the place where culture discusses its values, and if Christians bail out of that discussion, then our culture will continue to abandon good moral values built on justice, mercy, and hope." To read more about Professor Bakker, see our Web site at: http://tcc.trnty.edu/faculty/bakker/index.html
