"NATIONAL" EXCITEMENT FOR ANNUAL ALUMNI GOLF OUTING

Take out your clubs and start swinging---the annual alumni golf outing will be held on Saturday, June 3 at George Dunne National in Oak Forest, Illinois. Take me out to the ballgame

The alumni office has your tickets for this year's "Trinity Night" at the Brewers/Cubs contest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Plan to bring your family and friends to Miller Park on Friday, July 7 for this annual event. We'll warm up with a pre-game tailgate party at 4:30 p.m., give away some great prizes, and root for our favorite team during the 7:05 p.m. game. ART AND COMMUNICATION CENTER BUOYED BY BIG GIFT

A generous gift will help Trinity's planned Art and Communication Center get off the ground. On Friday, May 5, Fifth Third Bank presented the College with a check for $100,000. Fifth Third Bank has been providing Trinity banking services for the past several years. 

 

TRINITY CELEBRATES TUITION FREE DAY

Students at Trinity will remember Thursday, May 4, as the day their tuition money ran out; but no one on campus is particularly worried. Each year, the College celebrates Tuition Free Day; a day when donors and alumni are recognized for contributing to the Trinity Fund, which supplements tuition costs. Many students are unaware that their tuition dollars run out every May. This year, grateful students signed a giant thank you postcard and celebrated Tuition Free Day with cake and balloons in the dining hall.

 

TRINITY STUDENTS SHOW LOVE FOR THE COMMUNITY

Rain did not dampen the enthusiasm for lovePalos, an annual community clean-up campaign, on Saturday, April 29.  Hundreds of Trinity students and other volunteers enjoyed a warm-up picnic before heading to Palos Heights, Illinois neighborhoods for an afternoon of work. Volunteers spruced up property in the Navajo Hills neighborhood, the Trinity Trail on the college campus, and Lake Katherine. OPUS SHOWCASES STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

Trinity transformed its campus into a gallery of arts, entertainment, and scholarship Tuesday, April 25, for OPUS 2006, the seventh annual exhibition of student research and achievement. Students displayed artwork, discussed philosophical viewpoints, and described research findings. The range of topics included oral interpretations of literature, practical advice about employment, and controversial social issues that evoked sensitive responses. The alumni board consists of 15-18 Trinity graduates who come to campus two times each year for meetings and assist the alumni office in serving the alumni of Trinity Christian College. MISCELLANEOUS

EXPERIENCE INTERIM IN SOUTH AMERICA

Have you ever thought about going to the Brazilian rain forest? Now is the time to make arrangements to join Trinity on this experience of a lifetime. Alumni and friends are invited to spend 12 days with Trinity students during this Interim trip, January 9-20, 2007, in spots like Rio de Janeiro, Iguaçu Falls and the beaches of Uruguay. Cost is approximately $3,500 and includes round trip airfare, hotel accommodations, breakfast daily, bilingual tour guide and entrance fees to many sightseeing attractions. TIME FOR SUMMER CAMPS

Trinity Christian College will offer a variety of creative and athletics camps this summer. Children (grades 3-12) can learn how to create practical art, sharpen their acting skills, or improve athletic abilities. Adults can expand their horizons by attending one of Trinity's summer courses, from nutrition and weight management, to exploring Christian traditions or the field of special education as a potential career. JOB OPENINGS
Trinity Christian College
seeks a staff writer to work as part of the College's Marketing and Communications team. The staff writer is responsible for writing copy for news releases, feature-length magazine articles, quarterly newsletters, the web, and other publications.  The staff writer is also responsible for public relations planning and media relations.

 

Trinity Christian College is seeking a part-time Development Coordinator (approximately 28 hours per week) to provide planning and coordination of special events, series, and publications. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Work with the Vice President for Development and the Director of Alumni Relations, plan and implement events, both the annual type of events (e.g. Scholarship Dinner, Homecoming, Jubilation!) and special alumni and campaign events; 2. Work with the Trinity Business Network (TBN) advisory board, plan, implement, and evaluate TBN events and activities, facilitate and coordinate all TBN communication; serve as the budget officer for the TBN; 3. Work with the Senior Academy for Learning at Trinity (SALT) advisory board, plan, implement, and evaluate SALT event and activities; serve as the budget officer for the SALT; 4. Work with the Vice President for Development and the marketing unit of the College, lead the development of brochures, campaign materials, sections of the President's Report and the Trinity magazine, and other communicative means for development efforts.

FORMER ILLIANA STANDOUT TO COMPETE FOR TRINITY

Andy Jellema, a 2005 graduate of Illiana Christian High School (Lansing, IL) will transfer to Trinity in the fall and compete for the cross country and track and field teams. Jellema is currently a freshman at the University of Southern Indiana and will arrive at Trinity with three years of eligibility remaining. GASPEREC STEPS DOWN AS VOLLEYBALL COACH

Sue Gasperec, who has been head volleyball coach at Trinity Christian College for the past 13 years, is stepping down from her post. Gasperec will continue her duties as head softball coach at Trinity, and will remain the chair of the College's physical education department.

 

Baseball To Host NCCAA North Central Region Tournament

Trinity Christian College will be the host site for the NCCAA North Central Region Baseball Tournament. Judson College (IL), Northwestern College (MN), Trinity Christian College (IL), and Trinity International University (IL) will be competing in a double elimination format. Action will start at 10:00 am on May 11 and conclude on May 13. Seedings and pairings will be released at a later date.

 

Baseball Ends regular season on strong note

The Trolls exploded with hits and runs in a non-conference doubleheader against Lincoln Christian College (IL) on April 27. They had the first game well under control in the second inning and finished it in five innings with a 17-2 mercy rule win. In the second game they came on late to end the game 14-4 after six innings of play. In their last conference games of the season on April 29 the Trolls swept Cardinal Stritch University (WI). They took game one, 7-3, and then fought for the 10-8 win in game two. The Trolls end their regular season with a 17-22 overall and 8-12 conference record. 

 

TRACK AND FIELD COMPETES AT CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY

The Trolls performed well in the Cougar Invitational at Concordia University (IL) on April 29. In this final regular season Rita DeJong placed first in the 800 meter (2:29.22) and third in the 200 meter (27.53). Kathy Boeringa took third place in the javelin with a school record throw of 79'4.5". She also finished second in the shot put while Sandra Hoekstra took third in the 400 meter hurdles (1:14.66). On May 6, nine of the track and field athletes competed in the NCCAA National Championships held at Taylor University (Upland, IN). The women's team placed in four different events and earned nine points for an 11th place finish. 

 

Softball Ends Season with Wins

After losing to Trinity International earlier in the week, the Trolls wrapped up their 2006 season with two non-conference victories at Concordia University (IL) on April 29. The team took the first game, 11-1, after five innings of play and then made it a perfect day with a 3-1 win in the second game. They finished their season with an 18-31 overall and 7-11 (seventh place) conference record.
