February 11, 2009

A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR:
It was so great to see many of you homecoming! The weekend began with a very special dinner on Friday honoring our alumni of the year, and ended with a nearly sold-out performance by the improv group Candy in Church. Alums and friends also had the opportunity to fellowship with former professor Dr. Cal Seerveld while touring the new Art & Communications Center. For photos and a complete rundown of events, look under the alumni section of the newsletter. You will also notice a plethora of upcoming events in this newsletter and, for those of you who live in the area, I hope at least one of them may peak your interest.

As I spoke with folks over the weekend, I was reminded once again that the economic conditions are creating uncertainty for many. This week I was reading Max Lucado and he used the story of Christ calming the storm while on a boat with his disciples to reinforce in my mind that, if we trust our father in heaven, he will do the same for us. Consider this verse in the weeks ahead:

"The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!" He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm."

Matthew 8:25-26 (NIV)

A quick housekeeping note: we are in the process of upgrading our email capabilities so please excuse the fact that we skipped over the last scheduled e-newsletter! I hope you notice an improvement in content as we go along.
