Dawn of a New Day in MarComm

A new day dawned for Trinity's marketing and communications department when Illinois native Dawn Lyons-Dean began her role as its new director. Lyons-Dean, who grew up in DeKalb, Illinois, comes to the College from Spectrum Health Hospitals in Grand Rapids, Michigan. "I wanted to be a part of a smaller, more focused organization within a Christian venue," she said. "I see that the College is growing, and I want our department to be a strategic part of that growth."

TRINITY SALUTES MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.

The Trinity community honored Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a program January 17 that reflected on his legacy and its effect on justice in the United States today. Students, faculty, and staff convened in the Fireside Chapel to hear excerpts from the speeches, letters, and interviews of the slain civil rights leader dating back to the 1960s. INTERIM AROUND THE WORLD

Interim 2005 began January 11 when the largest contingent of Trinity students ever began two weeks of projects with faculty and staff on campus, in Chicago, and at various sites throughout the country and overseas. More than 550 students are participating in 34 classes and field studies covering a myriad of subjects, including astronomy, cinematography, theology, and science. Some groups will visit cultural institutions and historical landmarks in Chicago, New York City, and Washington, D.C. Others will travel to countries in Europe, Africa, and Latin America for research, missions, and service opportunities. Trinity's praise team also embarked on its annual winter tour throughout Florida and other areas in the southwest United States. JOB OPENINGS

PROGRAM MANAGER OPENING

Trinity Christian College is seeking a program manager for the Church Connection Initiative at Trinity, with support from Calvin Theological Seminary, Center for Excellence in Preaching, the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, and the Lilly Endowment. This is a temporary position working 20 hours per week until approximately July 1, 2005 (extension possible). The Church Connection Initiative is a catalyst for collaborative learning so to strengthen the church's ministry with a focus on preaching, worship, leadership development, and service. Responsibilities include working with the governing committee in meeting the goals of the committee as it seeks to serve the church's ministry in Chicago and beyond. A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree is desirable. Trinity welcomes a response from diverse candidates. SPORTS NEWS

Men's Basketball gets another conference win

The Trolls picked up their third conference win as they defeated Judson College, 77-55, on Saturday, January 15. The victory was also the third win in a row for the team, which is 3-1 since the New Year. They have improved their record to 8-12 for the season and 3-1 in the conference. 

 

WOMen's Basketball DROPS GAME TO JUDSON COLLEGE

The Trolls faltered in the second half of the conference game at Judson College on Saturday, January 15, to take their fifth loss in their last six outings. After a well-played first half, the team went flat in the second half and could not catch up. In the end, a one-point game at halftime ended in a 16-point loss, 69-53. The Trolls are now 7-12 for the season and 1-2 in the conference.
